Obituary: Edward Hansen

Edward Lee Hansen passed away at home in Alamo, NV on February 19, 2015 at the age of 83. He was born on May 15, 1931 in Hiko, NV to James Alfred and Jewel Evelyn Schofield Hansen. Ed was the third of six children. He graduated from Pahranagat Valley High School in 1949, earned a bachelor’s degree from Brigham Young University, and a masters degree from University of Nevada Las Vegas. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.MLN-Obit2feb26-15

Ed married Barbara Ann Marsing on July 26, 1956 in the Manti Utah LDS Temple. They were blessed with four children. Ed was a teacher, counselor, and FFA advisor at Pahranagat Valley High School for 30 years and has had a positive influence on many lives. Perhaps his favorite place to be though was outdoors farming and ranching. Ed and Barbara served two missions for the LDS Church, one on the island of Tonga and the other in Rochester, New York. All four of their children have served missions and 7 of their grandchildren have served or are currently serving missions. Ed loved the Lord and he loved his family. He lived a life of service.

Ed was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Jean, his brother Dean, and his beloved wife Barbara. He is survived by his brothers Alfred (Dorsmae) and Darrel (Verna); his sister Marie (Lowry); his children Elaine (Bill), Steven (Julie), Robert (DeeAnn), and Murry; 14 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held on February 21, 2015 at the Alamo LDS Chapel. He was interred in the Schofield Family Cemetery in Hiko, NV.
